A LETTER TO SUMMER 2018
Dear Summer 2018,
As always, Summer, you have flown by way to quick. I do not understand how the months of school and work always seem to drag on forever, but those three months of endless carefree days seem to disappear in the blink of an eye. Summer 2018, you were not what I expected. At all. You made me cry way more than I care to admit, and gifted us many a thunderstorm (so. many. migraines.) Despite these terrible evils on your part, you brought me lots of laughter and sunshine. Summer 2018, you will always be a summer to remember, and it would not be fitting to see you leave without a proper display of my gratitude. So, Summer 2018, thank you for:
· The many outdoor, summer runs I had in Utah (Except for the hills. The hills you can keep next time.)
· All of the tv shows my mom and I were able to binge watch.
· Not giving me a sunburn!
· An interesting month of fußball, even though the German defeat hit me hard.
· The Viking strength in the Icelandic team’s fight. (That keeper had my favorite save of the tournament, by far).
· The eye candy on the Denmark team 😉
· The incredible run of the Croatian team!
· Dad finally understanding the importance of the beautiful game.
· Laughing so hard with my sweet Young Women at Church Camp.
· Only forcing me to spend three days out in nature.
· Learning I have the moves like Napoleon at the Youth Dance.
· Best Girls Day Ever. Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again is for sure my new favorite musical!
· All of the ice cream.
· The opportunity to finish off my Associates Degree, even if I kinda dragged my heels. Like a lot.
· Grandpa and Granddaughter dates.
· Visiting many a Church History Site, and being reminded yet again that I would never have survived in Pioneer times.
· So many dog sitting gigs (#bestjobever)
· The birth of the most adorable adopted niece I ever did see!
· 80’s jam sessions on road trips with mom.
· Weezer’s version of "Africa". Need I say more?
· Learning that my volleyball skills have for sure not improved since 7th grade.
· Fake it ‘til You Make it cross stitch with Grandma
· All of the days I didn’t have to put make up on.
· Very few bug bites.
· Catching up with sweet friends.
Summer, you were pretty good to me (could have done without the Germany loss, though). I anxiously await your next visit, but am pretty excited to not have to wear Perfume de la Sunscreen every day. Thanks for the memories, Summer 2018.
Love, Ellie
